2024 Cancellation Policy for Workshops
There are many uncertainties in today’s travel environment, so we strongly encourage participants to purchase refundable airline tickets and purchase trip cancellation or travel insurance. Doug Johnson Photography is not responsible for any losses incurred as a result of a workshop cancellation. Many travel insurance companies have updated their policies regarding COVID-19; make sure you learn about a particular policy’s COVID coverage to see if you may want to purchase a Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) policy.
Workshop content may change from that advertised based on weather, access to shooting locations, and other unforeseen situations. A change of instructor is also possible, though it rarely happens. Whenever possible, registered students will be notified ahead of time of any changes.
DJP Cancellation: Doug Johnson Photography (DJP) reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum participant requirements or one that is jeopardized due to unexpected situations such as a pandemic risk or severe environmental hazards, such as forest fires. In the event that DJP cancels a workshop, we will inform workshop participants as soon as possible and you will receive a full refund of all fees paid to DJP. Doug Johnson Photography is not responsible for any additional losses incurred as a result of a course cancellation (please see note above regarding recommendation of travel insurance).
Participant Cancellation for Location Workshops: Due to the many logistics involved in planning and implementing photography workshops, we encourage participants to make sure they can attend a workshop before registering. That said, we understand that life happens and unexpected situations arise (please see note above regarding recommendation of travel insurance). Doug Johnson Photography is not responsible for cancellations due to medical or other emergencies or reimbursement of any losses including non-refundable airline tickets, lodging, or otherwise, in the event of a participant cancelling their workshop registration.
*Please refer to the following timeline for participant cancellation and refunds of fees paid to DJP for location workshops. (Note that some individual workshops, such as international workshops, have separate cancellation policies; view individual web-pages for details).
For cancellations received in writing 120 days or more prior to the workshop start date: Doug Johnson Photography will refund any tuition paid minus a $100 fee. Alternatively, you may choose to transfer your deposit to another DJP workshop taking place in the same calendar year (January 1- December 31, 2024) that has space available.
Transfers are not possible 119 or fewer days prior to the start date of the workshop.
For cancellations received in writing 91-119 days prior to the workshop start date: Doug Johnson Photography will refund any tuition paid minus your deposit.
For cancellations received in writing 90 or fewer days prior to the workshop start date: Doug Johnson Photography will retain full tuition. If we are able to fill your seat, or you are able to find someone to take your place, you will receive a refund of your tuition minus a $100 fee.
For cancellations after the workshop is in progress and for no-shows at the workshop: Doug Johnson Photography will retain full tuition.
Should final payment fail to reach us by the payment due date specified on the workshop page, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled and retain the deposit.
Participant Cancellation for Online Workshops: If for some reason DJP must cancel an online class, you will receive a full refund of your tuition fee. Based on the cancellation date, the following applies; please note that tuition for online workshops is not transferrable:
For cancellations received in writing 21 days or more prior to the workshop start date: Doug Johnson Photography will refund any tuition paid minus a $100 fee.
For cancellations received in writing less than 21 days prior to the workshop start date: Doug Johnson Photography will retain full tuition. If we are able to fill your seat, or you are able to find someone to take your place, you will receive a refund of your tuition minus a $100 fee.
