A Personal Photo Project

Join DJP for an online workshop that will guide you in creating a meaningful project. Creating a cohesive project helps you consider your work with a fresh approach, helps you discover more about your personal vision, and generates new possibilities for story-telling that go beyond a random collection of single images. This workshop is designed to challenge you to look at your photography in new and expanded ways and culminates in creating a work of art that you can share with the world.

We will begin by discussing the benefits of taking on a personal project and share examples to inspire your own project. We’ll discuss a variety of formats so you can choose the one most meaningful for your work. Possibilities are endless and might include a book, gallery show, slideshow presentation, website portfolios, gallery wall for your home, notecard series - it is up to you. During the workshop, you are welcome to shoot a new project, further an existing project, or excavate your archives to assemble an interesting and unified body of work.

We will cover tips and strategies on selecting, editing, and sequencing your images to emphasize a cohesive look. The primary focus of the workshop will be providing and receiving feedback and critique of your work to develop the best possible project. As part of our encouraging class environment, we’ll trouble-shoot any challenges to keep moving forward.

There is a three-week gap before the final session to give everyone time to finalize their project. We will then come back together for each participant to share and celebrate their completed photo project!

We invite you to dive into this creative and expressive journey!

It has been nearly 10 years since my RMSP courses with Doug—and, nearly ten years with my camera packed away waiting for me to have the time and the determination to pick it up again. I knew Doug’s attentive teaching style, cheerful personality and his expertise would be exactly where to start...I was right!
Thank you, Doug, for making your class such a great experience.
