A Foundation for the Macro World

One of the most unique and visually captivating genres in all of photography is the world of macro. A world that is mostly unseen with the naked eye, but with the right tools allows us to discover new visual adventures each and every time we look thru the viewfinder.

This workshop is designed to provide you with the strong foundational tools you can rely on every time you shoot macro. We will go over all equipment alternatives and give you the technical know-how to use those tools creatively. We’ll cover the most effective use of light when shooting macro, how to ensure you have your focus right where you want it, and how to create strong compositions in macro photography. With insightful presentations, engaging assignments that support lecture content and through personal critiques, you will walk away with the knowledge and creativity to create beautiful macro images that communicate your own unique vision!

Included for workshop participants is a 1-hour, one-on-one meeting with Doug that can be scheduled within two months of the conclusion of the course. This is to provide support as you engage in the course material and to keep you advancing your macro photography skills!

I thoroughly enjoyed the class! The assignments were very motivating. Doug’s critiques were excellent and very thought-provoking. I took this class to learn and to get some motivation to get out and shoot. It worked on both accounts. Doug is an excellent instructor!
